How Xeomin Works

XEOMIN® (incobotulinumtoxinA) is a prescription wrinkle-relaxing injectable. It temporarily blocks the signals that cause selected facial muscles to contract, helping soften lines created by repeated expressions such as frowning or squinting. Treatment works on muscle activity rather than adding volume. A consultation helps determine whether your concerns are suited to this approach.

Where Xeomin can treat

Xeomin is FDA approved to temporarily improve moderate to severe upper facial lines in adults: frown lines between the eyebrows, horizontal forehead lines, and crow’s feet around the outer eyes. Other cosmetic uses, such as a gummy smile or brow adjustment, are off-label and require an individual assessment and discussion of risks and alternatives.

When results appear and how long they last

Changes may begin within four to seven days and continue developing after treatment. Results typically last three to four months, although timing and duration vary from person to person. Maintenance appointments depend on your response and clinical assessment; repeat treatment should occur no more frequently than every three months.

Important safety information

Possible side effects include bruising or other injection-site reactions, headache, eyelid or eyebrow drooping, and allergic reactions. Do not receive Xeomin if you are allergic to its ingredients or another botulinum toxin product, or have an infection at a planned injection site.

Tell your clinician about all medicines, recent botulinum toxin treatments, muscle or nerve conditions, swallowing or breathing difficulties, and pregnancy or breastfeeding. Xeomin units cannot be substituted for units of other botulinum toxin products.
